Honey and Poison

A sweet embrace, a gentle kiss,

A promise of eternal bliss.

But hidden depths, a darker hue,

A poisonous sting, a bitter brew.

Honeyed words, like nectar's flow,

Lulling hearts into a mellow glow.

But beneath the surface, a serpent's bite,

A treacherous trap, a deadly plight.

A masquerade, a cunning art,

A poisoned chalice, a broken heart.

The sweetness fades, the poison seeps,

As hope dissolves, and sorrow weeps.

Beware the honey, so smooth and sweet,

For hidden within, a bitter defeat.

A treacherous kiss, a fatal sting,

A poisoned soul, a mournful thing.
