Honesty

Uncommon to Many

By Dan R FowlerPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Uncommon Honesty

It’s been a long time between now and then,

When the soul to walked against the tide’s ebbing.

It’s the passing that changes the way we think,

It’s the passing that creates illusions in a blink.

From innocence to adolescence to maturity it’s said,

Will bring all the answers to the questions in our heads.

Unlike the quotations that we’re told would be learned,

Honesty is far better than shallow stupidity earned.

Smirks and finger-pointing from those all around,

Create illusions that people are dogs sprawled upon the ground.

To be gullible believing that others must know best,

Is to surrender one’s soul and heart without taking the test.

Keep that which is within you both honorable and true,

The thing that makes us who we are is life’s glue.

Retain the lingering innocence unawakened in a few,

Let others think what they will, but don’t become their fool.
