Isn't A Building

By Nikki HamiltonPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

They say home is where the heart is

The place you rest your head

The haven you rush off to

When nothing else makes sense

The place where love abounds

Where you’re accepted as you are

No matter how far you run

It never leaves your heart

For some, home is where the hurt is

Where chaos and pain ensue

And despite how far we run

The memories still pursue

How we want that haven

The place for our weary souls

That will give us what we long for

Peace, love, and joy to behold

So we search for that home

Somewhere to belong

Where we will find rest

And won’t always need to be strong

That elusive refuge

We desperately need to find

Which seems so out of reach

On our hunt for peace of mind

On that journey for a home

Though arduous and long

We will realize eventually

That we had it so wrong

Home isn’t the place we grew up in

Not the house where our family resided

Our true home is with those who walked with us,

who were always beside us

Home is a place without four walls

which can’t be confined in a structure

It’s the people who make it a home

the people who gave you ducture
