ARCADIA By Robert Merle

Home can be pain and break your heart’s every beat.

It will leave you feeling the bitter taste of defeat.

Home isn’t always love and light.

For some people, it’s hate and blight.

For me it’s learning to live a new life.

One different from the hatred we’ve been fed

So every night when I go to bed,

I take a deep breath and imagine a new life.

A life full of promises that are kept.

Not a place with problems swept under our beds.

Because now under our beds lie monsters of all the tales from yesterdays past.

And I hope that one day I can make the dream last.
