Home is a Fantasy

A poem about my home

By EPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Home is somewhere I find solace,

Yet it’s not a definitive place.

As a child, it was in the arms of my parents,

Now it’s in between layers of parchment.

Home for me is a fantasy, literally.

It didn’t take much to get me hooked,

I just had to open the right book.

Page after page,

It’s the only thing constant in my life,

Soothing me in times of strife,

Keeping me going during my lowest moments,

Always bringing me excitement,

Helping throughout my difficulties,

Making me forget my insecurities,

It allows me to escape this reality.

Chapter after chapter,

I read until my eyes are burning,

I can live a million different lives without ever moving,

Experience so many miscellaneous things,

Go on adventures and have new beginnings.

I discover thousands of imaginary worlds,

I have the characters’ stories to follow,

That I can never seem to let go,

Because it’s their endings I must know.

Book after book,

Reading will always be a passion,

It’s a place to call my own,

A place where I'll never be alone.

Home to me is a good story,

Home is where I constantly want to be.
