Simple rituals,

Her love’s unconditional.

A child's innocence

Eager for some attention,

Unaware its fickleness.

-

Instruments of pain,

In shock, she’s rendered speechless.

Helplessness of youth,

Her hero has turned villain.

In the morning, forgotten.

-

Bruises on the skin,

“Not abuse just discipline,”

She is told to think.

Ever walking on eggshells,

It will never be spoken.

-

Corrupted memories,

Afraid to be reminded.

Scars left on her soul,

Trying to scrub them away.

How can it be forgiven?
