A poetic tribute to the heroes of 9/11
Get safe. I’ll meet you at the bottom of the stairwell.
Last words spoken right before a brave farewell.
Everyday the people who serve the land save a life.
It was on this remarkable Tuesday they gave a life.
Greater is he who lays down his life for his brother.
Magnificent like no other. Living proof we need each other.
You knew you probably wouldn’t see another day.
Making sure the innocent would breathe another day.
A soldier from the start just doing their part.
Ready for the smoke with all their valiant hearts.
You went out in a blaze of glory.
When it’s all said and done the world will praise your story.
Who knew that fateful morning would be your last.
No matter how much time goes by the sacrifice of the heroes last.
Those of us left must continue on. Yes we’re living on.
We’ll always carry the memory of what you did that September dawn.
