Hereafter

Will you?

Should I fall down

Would you lift me up

Should I act like a clown

Would you laugh it up

Should I sing out loud in a crowded place

Would you sing along, face to face

*

When I get old

Will you be by my side

When my mind does fold

Will you be my guide.

When I tell the same stories on and on

Will you listen in silence until the dawn

**

Should my time come, will you say goodbye

Would you hold my hand till the end of day

Should memories vanish, like clouds in the sky

Would the darkness we had, soon fade away

Will you worry, why should we care

When in the great hereafter I shall wait for you there

Well-wrought! Energy never ends and death is no end to life. We're all in there somewhere, or at least so it seems to me.

"When my mind does fold" - what a great line. This was very sad, JBaz but wonderfully evoked.

This is so beautiful Jason!! I loved the rhyme scheme and your word choices. That first verse was so drawing, felt like a call to action or challenge. Great work!!

As you know, I never read poetry but this one caught my attention, Maybe its because it hits close to home, Great work, Jason.

  • This is so poignant… especially liked: “When my mind does fold Will you be my guide. When I tell the same stories on and on Will you listen in silence until the dawn”💙.

Sir, this is beautiful. I've said it a lot of times; I am not overly keen on love poems, as they can be too saccharine and overegged, in my opinion. This thought is rooted in real love, in real connection and is inspired by it. Well done, Jason!
