The warmth of his body,
she is the size of a child in his arms as she melts into him.
A long, deep breath he makes in slumber, tickling the base of her neck,
this is her space.
Her eyes closed, a smile comes over her face; his warmth, his heart, the softness of his breath; she allows him to consume her as he sleeps.
Thoughts of this being her forever place crosses her mind; it is all she needs in the world, nothing more,
this her space.
Her heart flutters: it makes her shiver; his body responds by holding her tighter; no words, just love,
this is her time, her moment, her comfort,
her space.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
