Held You

I never wanted to paint you

I did it from a hollow hole.

Thought to form something shaded,

to fill my empty soul.

-

I never wanted your heart

but I lacked one of my own.

Thought to steal your veins of warmth,

to replace my broken bone.

-

I never meant to suck you

but I had no self to breathe.

Thought to blow your lungs away,

mine I had deceived.

-

I never dreamed to let you go

but you slowly drifted away.

Thought to build some of my own,

Alone, I did the day.
