Heart Bypass

My story

By Sarah Fiander HarrisonPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
The scar!

Life can change on a sixpence it seems;

The shattering of hopes

The discarding of dreams.

Money wasted as was time,

Life changing on a sixpence

But also a dime.

In hospital I sat waiting alone,

Looking at items that were brought from home.

Saying my prayers over and again

Starts with 'Our Father'

And ends with 'Amen'

Imagining my dog sitting with me, my dad and The Lord,

A trinity of three.

They kept me company as I waited apart

For the op to repair my heart.

Comfort was found in those three special friends,

Prayers were said over and over again.

Finally they went to escort me

To the theatre, were the 'Holy three'.

Surgical wizards performed the task

Of opening me up, for double bypass.

And as I came to, I finally found

That wonderful trinity hanging around.

Six months later, my heart is all ment,

My recovery I feel, has been heaven sent.

Others may scoff, or laugh out loud

But of my Faith, I am justly proud.

Gratitude

So glad you're okay. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️

  • Yeah! Life is a very ephemeral one like a waterdrop at the edge of a tree leaf. Amazing writing!

This poem poignantly captures the unpredictability of life, the solace found in faith, and the journey through a critical heart surgery.
