He Found a Wife Who Wanted Him Only

She didn’t want his gifts just his heart

He Found a Wife Who Wanted Him Only

He gave black diamonds and pearls

to girls who wanted sparkle

their hands full, their hearts light

they smiled for the shine, not him

He waited for love

in rooms that only echoed desire

gifts piled high, unneeded

he wondered if anyone saw him

They came and went

laughing, sparkling, leaving

he gave more, hoping

their eyes would catch his soul

Then she appeared

her hands empty, her heart steady

she did not reach for the diamonds

she did not chase the pearls

He gave her only himself

and she held him close

her love unbought, untaken

the treasure was in his arms

At last he knew

the gift that mattered most

was never diamonds or pearls

it was the love this girl had for him
