Love lost in poems

“When a poet falls in love with you, you can never die” is like a line straight out of a romantic novel. When poets fall in love, they don’t just write about a person — they immortalize them.

Imagine being a poet’s muse, knowing that your essence, quirks, and how you made someone feel are captured in verses that could outlive us all.

Think of Shakespeare’s sonnets, where he famously declared that as long as his poems were read, the beauty of his beloved would never fade. “So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, / So long lives this, and this gives life to thee,” he wrote in Sonnet 18. Here, Shakespeare isn’t just praising his muse — he’s promising them a form of immortality.

I have my share of this tragedy. I fell in love first, he fell in love harder. But love isn’t just about butterflies in your stomach the first time you kiss. The honeymoon phase ends and you can tell exactly when love left.

And when someone doesn’t love you anymore, there is nothing you can do to make them love you again. You just let go. You need to let go.

I still had so much love in my heart when he left, so I wonder what will I do with this love now. Where would I put them? What will I do with the memories? Was it meant to be forgotten now? But I want the world to know about this love! I don’t want it to fade into the abyss no one will ever find. So I used the only weapon I knew…my mind. With all the memories like bullets of a gun all aimed at me. My poem isn’t just about the love I felt — it’s about ensuring that my love would be remembered.

To my muse, the one who broke my heart… “I’ll remember you, and so will the world”. You are now more than just a memory, you are now an art preserved in a way that defies time. All the pain I felt I’ll return it to you as a gift of immortality. If they ask me about love, I’ll still tell them about you.

Our love will never be unknown.

You did not become a stranger, I turned you into a poem.
