Haunting past immerses me.
When all of life falls in the dream blender

*Tehachapi is pronounced: tuh-hach-uh-pee
Moon ascending to the apex of sky
Plagues my sleep all twisted and wry
This time it is again so weird
Not terrifying, only slightly feared.
Fishing on a large lake edge
The water has great depth below the ledge
Logs, rocks, and fish galore
None taking my line, just as before.
Now in the auto shop I have arrived
Somewhere the dream weaver has lied
Parts, parts I must acquire
For some reason, the need is dire.
I search and search only to morph and change
Into some other place, partially deranged
A koi shop before me spreads
With a horde of people demanding my head.
Former customers, ranch owners, and friends
Toastmasters, koi shows, and a pond shop blends
Frenzy, frenzy as I run through the shop
Wait just a second, is that my pop?
You died so many years ago
Then recently mom did go
Yet you both come and mess with my dreams
While in your faces, happiness gleams.
Now ponds and fish with creeks a flowing
Are in your house, through the living room going
On the hill, it looked over Tehachapi*
And flows peace and joy in the heart of me.
Oh that this should stop right there
And leave me off with not a care.
But no, you are not finished
My mind races on, undiminished.
What was it next, the thoughts at bay
Cornered into blurry memories, there to stay
There were former cars, and roads with mud
And on some, there may have been blood.
Vivid and colorful have these all been
And surely tonight there will be more again
Crazy and tiring as these dreams were
Much, much worse will be the others for sure.
As this happened not on the full moon
But two days prior did I here commune
Tonight and tomorrow shall all be filled
With chaos, my imagination is so skilled.
Two nights hence, births the Wolf Moon
And under it my heart will be strewn
But I shall pick up and rise again
Because I know, I will win in the end.
