Haunted never after

A lovely elf sat majestically upon my shelf

Elegant, ebony black in her porcelain dignified grace

She emanated stateliness and grandeur

While oozing a certain 'je ne sais quoi'

Oh, she was so 'I don't know what'.......

Even though she came only in my dreams

To haunt me with the heavenly nectar of the Gods

Which, were I ever tempted to so partake

Would render me instantly dead!

Some nights she assumed another devilish form

A long lost friend, she too, long dead

Bidding me come and play, like we once did in childhood

Ever so long ago

"Drink, drink and join me in the afterlife. It is such fun there"!

Then came the devil himself to taunt and haunt me

Offering the sinful apple of the Garden of Eden

And gifts of ever after and forever sounding so sublime

This likeness of Rumpelstiltskin faded now to Black

While in my dreams I tossed and turned

Wishing these ghosts of Christmas past

Would just let me slumber and sleep in peace.

And a child shall lead them, it is said

This child he smiles, but evil distastefully glares from the eyes

Never, never shall this child ever can beguile and charm

He is an evil elf resting atop my unhappy dream shelf.

Who else comes this night to infest my dreams?

Ah, the temptress

She is back...unhappily realizing

I drank the cursed God given nectar

I am dead....now my friend and I

Can live happily Never after!!!!!!!
