Haunted by You
You linger in rooms I’ve tried to cleanse,
in mirrors I’ve covered,
in dreams that wake me shaking.
Your voice is the echo that won’t fade,
your scent the memory that won’t die.
Even silence wears your name.
I light candles and speak to the dark,
pretending I’m not waiting for you to answer.
But you always do,
in the flicker of the flame,
in the cold against my neck.
You were never kind,
but you were real.
And I would rather be haunted
than forget.

Marie381Uk
I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
