Hats Off To The Traveler Of Melancholy Masterpieces
James Taylor, The Master Of Feel Good
For days now, I’ve been obsessed with James Taylor,
he has a smooth way of touching my soul.
The rhythm and rhymes are just a few of the ways,
he joins my conscience, in a lyrical stroll.
*
I fight off the tears, with a smile on my face,
as he reminds me, “that’s why I’m here”.
Singing “Fire and Rain”, taking me to a place,
I come back to year after year.
*
There is a connection I feel when he starts to sing,
like a long-lost friend, who’s made his way home.
Walking and talking like a natural man,
hand in hand, down that old “Country Road”.
*
Gone to “Carolina”, or down some “Copper Line”,
showering me in love and sunshine.
Off to ‘Mexico” maybe lost inside my mind.
right beside me, enjoying the ride.
*
I can’t explain how his music sets me free,
takes me back, to a world left behind.
Time evolves, here inside of my family tree,
try not to try too hard, is “The Secret of Life”.
*
All the best things in this life, are absolutely free,
on this lyrical ride back through time.
Magical, carefree melodies,
blending with simple, life altering rhymes.
*
With eyes that encapsulate feelings,
as blue as the feeling of sad.
That velvety voice singing melancholy things,
we figure out that life’s not so bad.
*
It takes a master to bring them together,
all the emotions that make up a life.
And he effortlessly plays on my heartstrings,
tapping my feet, keeping rhythm and time.
*
Lyrical masterpieces, echo in my mind,
musical transportation to anywhere in time.
Guitar strings with a story to tell,
taking me away, to the depths of my mind.
*
Worries fly by and move out of the way,
when I put on a record of James.
Finding fortune and fame is such a curious game
taking liberties - calling him by his name.
I give full credit to the genius behind the songs and lyrics I mentioned above . James Taylor was, is and will continue to be a groundbreaking pilgrim in the music that shapes our lives. I hope you enjoy my tribute.
