Hands Before Luna

Nature and its beauty never fails to surprise me

A white circle in a navy grey sky,

Dimpled and cheek-boned.

It is a beacon tonight,

A clarifier

Complimenting the dark,

Highlighting the dusky figures with silvery film.

The moon is not alone;

Clouds form and reform,

Dancing with veils

With Luna at its centre.

They reach and retreat

Until they clasp each other

Like hands held, holding fast

Gripping tightly across

The smiling face of the moon.

***

I was coming back from somewhere late at night (WWE - see below for link) when the moon was suddenly apparent behind some buildings after being hidden for some time. The clouds were moving but not quickly and they were long, like arms, leaving the moon and then covering the moon, by turns, until two clouds met and the seam of their connection looked like a handshake.

It deserved a poem, this moment.

For some unknown reason, my gentle mother loved to watch WWE. I never understood it. So I totally get your poem. Moons make for poetry.
