I took some time to grow

But I'm now smaller

I thought my mind was slow

So of this world, I am wiser

I made up my mind to experience things

Now it's for me that the bell rings

Time will do to you the strangest of things

From wisdom's memories my eyes still stings

I thought I needed time to grow

Did I truly end up much shorter?

I wanted to kindle my inner glow

My inner fire has found it's water

Wisdom and experience has made me wary

Where once I was brave and ready to do

I've grown short til the world seems scary

Truly I wish to begin again anew

Perhaps I really did grow

Perhaps it's the world that's larger

My mind or heart should know

A larger world makes questions harder

Growing up doesn't mean that we win

Being innocent and young doesn't mean you're a fool

Especially here in a world of sin

Resist forever being someone's foot stool
