Grief Bleeds Here
Platitudes are Unwelcome in This Space
“At least it was early.”
Grief isn’t meant to be contained by a timeline.
But when did you decide loss should be measured in weeks?
“Everything happens for a reason.”
That isn’t true; everything happens for the reason someone chooses to attach.
Or does binding your faith to another’s tragedy prioritize your closure?
“Well, you can try again.”
Certainly, but that doesn’t negate the life gone.
Or is it acceptable to merely dismiss lost potential in favour of its future replacement?
“You just need to relax more next time.”
Causes go far beyond generic stress.
Yet, why does it benefit you to attribute blame onto the already grieving mother?
“My friend had one but has kids now.”
Shared positive stories do not negate someone’s lived experience.
Were you even asked?
“Time heals all wounds.”
Grief has no timeline.

PSA: Acceptable Responses
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
