Let go

Some would have me ashamed

Of the me that’s untamed

But I’m comfortable with a lean towards

nature.

I keep doing the work.

Yes, you missed out on that.

I hope you’re at ease in your new you.

I don’t often cry but today I did.

Ugly. Public. Crying.

Triggered out of context of you.

All true things are the same in the end

and my heart hurt.

I want to keep doing the work.

Not sure how I forgot that for some time.

I forgive myself.

Wild women release

Cry, write, and love.

Open. Connect. Serve.

I love you.

Trauma can be a tough theme to compose around but I think you succeeded with it here. You let us in enough to be invested in speaker but progress the overall piece beyond the individual. I also like where you leveraged internal, off, and sight rhymes throughout. It avoids distracting from the overall content of the piece, which might've been the case with end rhymes.

A deeply courageous and resonant piece celebrating self-acceptance, resilience, and the liberating power of vulnerability

  • This was so poignantly beautiful. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️

That closing affirmation of wild women releasing and connecting is beautiful.
