Do Angels Walk Amongst Us

They say they do every second of every day

Do Angels Walk Amongst Us

Do angels walk amongst us,

blending into crowds without a sound.

No wings to give them away,

no light spilling onto the ground.

They wear the faces of strangers,

pass us in streets, sit close on trains.

Carrying quiet understanding,

while hiding their own private pain.

Maybe they are the ones who listen,

when the world has turned its back.

Offering presence instead of answers,

filling in the human cracks.

They know when to stay silent,

when words would only bruise.

They stand beside breaking hearts,

with nothing left to prove.

Perhaps angels get tired too,

of watching us look straight through.

Doing small unseen kindnesses,

no applause, no thank you.

If angels walk amongst us,

they look like people who care.

Worn, unnoticed, still showing up,

again and again, everywhere.

Loved it, Marie. Yes, I do believe we have angels among us.

Yes, there are angels among us. Though life situations and their choices make them angel or not.
