Green is the color of my soul
Of my eyes
Of my newness every lifetime
Of my love
Of the prize.
Emerald like my heart
Like the depths of a lagoon
Like the glint
On deep waters
In the light of a full moon.
You see Blue, at certain angles,
Even grey in the right light
But green is in my spirit
Unruly as
Georgia vines.
Green like the earth,
where I come from, where I’ll die.
Born of stardust,
We’ll return dust.
To our birthplace in the sky.
Can I help but delve into it -
intense interest in everything?
I want power
I want love
But even more, I want nothing.
Green is the color
They’ll remember when they say,
“She was daring.
She was bold.
In her own quiet way.”
