green isn't wrong

and neither are you

By Christopher WebbPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

nobody tells a little kid:

“hey kid

you’re using the wrong color”

if they want their trees bright pink

and their skies lime green

if they want their pet dog light blue

and their birthday cake neon orange

so be it.

nobody should tell another human:

“hey there

you’re loving the wrong person”

if they want their love forest green

and their family to be a million shades of sparkling violet

so be it.

when i was little

i was green in a world where

blue and yellow

were never allowed to coexist

i faded away for many dark years.

now i’m grown and not afraid

to be green

not ashamed

to be green

unabashedly proud

to be green

i choose the colors of my life

vibrant

muted

pastel

they all have a place

so be it.
