Hiding my tears behind a smile

Nothing’s gone my way for a long, long while

When I would do right, it all goes wrong

That’s why I put my pain into this psalm

And I gotta get out of here

Lowly, rejected it’s just not fair

Want to get out, want to go somewhere

Where hopes and dreams never seem to die

And I won’t be refused or wonder why

But I gotta get out of here

The time for happiness has been long gone

All that’s left are the words written in this song

And a life that’s been wasted and dreams deferred

This is my final thought, my final word

Cause I gotta get out of here
