Goodbye

Spoken In Shallow Breath

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

At the end of a life

Memories fill a void

Loss that cuts like a knife

Ones we try to avoid

Separation and loss

Acceptance and change

Take the check, pay the cost

Everything rearranged

Fragile hearts, break like glass

Fractured parts, treasured trash

Mended and put on display

Blood red rose, turned to gray

Bite of tongue, kiss of cheek

Song is sung, as we speak

Scent of flowers, on the grave

Nothing unsaid, no feelings saved

Tears fall unkept, healing and pure

Cling to whats left, help find the cure

Love cycles round, from birth to death

What’s lost is found, life’s captured breath

Tomorrow new, the past released

Dark shades of blue, blend into peace

sad poetry

Virtually every funeral I've ever conducted could be described as you just did, Kelli. But tomorrow we do a wedding.
