Going Home

Today my friend and I discussed,

the topic of ancient people going home,

when young and jubilant hearts become distressed,

as they realize they are alone.

Around them all is holiday cheer,

with families around the table,

yet there he sits in an empty house so drear,

thinking of family far and unreachable.

Whether good, alive, or sick they were,

he knew not,

for he could only hope that it would not occur,

their deaths had finally caught.

So with apprehension he went on his way,

believing open arms and familiar faces would greet him,

ignoring the fears at bay,

that their spirits delivering woe would find him,

before he got the chance of seeing home.
