Hades

A Poem

There’s a deep dark hole,

In the deep dark Earth,

Where the hopeless fall in,

When their souls hurt.

It’s empty and cavernous,

As though hollowed for Hell,

So hungry and insatiable,

It can swallow your echoed yell.

It bores around the world,

Leaving underground tracks,

Scarring the buried layers,

With long traumatic cracks.

We all fall down,

Some every night,

Into bottomless despair,

Into voidful blight.

Down, down, down we go,

Until we all crash,

Into the abyss’ bedrock,

With a bone shattering bash!

Agonising and howling,

You struggle to stand,

And begin your ascent home,

From where hopeless souls land.
