God, Just let me cry
Let me mourn

God, just let me cry
Please give me room to grieve
Allow me to be sad
Grant me space to let go
Let me mourn this loss
And grow from it
No one goes into a marriage thinking it will end
You don’t think of saying good-bye when you say “I do.”
But now, I need to lay these dead, cold dreams to rest
And I need time to process the loss of what we once were
I need to respect the memories both good and bad
But it is time to say good-bye and time to cry
God, just let me cry
Give me room to grieve
Allow me to be sad
Grant me space to let go
Let me mourn this loss
And grow from it
Twenty years is such a very long time
And some would even say our marriage was a success
Two beautiful children and a beautiful home
But the coldness and cruelty living behind our closed doors
That we kept so well hidden from all
Has suffocated the warmth of the love we once shared
God, just let me cry
Please give me room to grieve
Allow me to be sad
Grant me space to let go
Let me mourn this loss
And grow from it
