Texas Intentions
Taking care of business

I am going back to Texas
I’m Texas bound to say good-bye
I am going to take care of unfinished business
It is time to wipe the slate clean
I am going to throw a dozen yellow roses
Into the muddy Comal River outside of New Braunfels
I’m going to drown some memories
And finally write the end to our love story where it started
I am going to cry some tears in my beer
At the Firehouse Saloon in Houston
I am going to say some prayers, cut my roots, and let you go
And release the pain my ego is so attached to
I am going to throw some rose quartz crystals
Far into Galveston Bay
I am going to fill them full of intention and forgiveness
For both you and me
I am going to drive by my old family homestead
in Anderson, Texas where my clan first started in the 1800’s
I am going to toast my family with a pint-sized carton of Blue Bell Ice cream
And ask God to forgive all of their misdeeds and sins
I am going to visit my older brother’s grave
In downtown Austin, Texas
I am going to leave a little teddy bear that he never got to play with
And pray he knows his little sister will always love him
I am going back to Texas
I’m Texas bound to say good-bye
I am going to take care of unfinished business
It is time to wipe the slate clean
I'm going back to Texas
