Give the Kids Garden and Books
They will grow wholesome

A backyard garden
with flowers and vegetables
is a privilege like no other.
Nasturtium, calendula, larkspur,
poppy, mustard, cornflower—
vibrant as a rainbow.
Kids are soothed
by the colors, fragrances,
the birds and bees
that visit and amuse
with buzz and songs.
The joy of picking
fresh pea pods—
is pure excitement.
Then come the libraries
with choices of books.
Let them fall in love,
let their curiosity be quenched,
and stir imagination.
These outlooks will shape
better judgment,
a true asset—
greater than money.
We may live now,
in the clutch of technology,
but gardens and books
are timeless gifts.
If you have young kids,
give them these treasures
and they will grow wholesome.
