ginger cookies, ginger cat, cinnamon tea, and autumn parks
somewhere in-between

orange
zesty colour of this season
we are wearin’
thick sweaters
to warm ourselves up
eat ginger cookies
dipped in cinnamon tea
to feel comfort fizzin’ in this
bubble of autumn
not sparin’ her secrets
stuck in gloomy corners
of the park
where the squirrels play
with pigeons, jackdaws, and ravens
for first place
yet he’s gonna win at a canter
already on the prowl
stampin’ gently without sound
carefully anticipatin’ his every move
the ginger cat is on the loose
he has a collar in the colour of blood
or le bon bon
if you prefer
sweeter version of the story
he has no malicious meanin’
meanderin’ in his bones
he just wants to stroll
in the park where he lives
as the guardian of all animals
has a cottage of his own
the owner
and sufficient supply of seed
to be filled with their taste
until he catches the mouse
into his cunnin' web
in crave
for comfort
in a cat's sense
of that word
he is an excellent spy
he knows where to hide
when danger is near
oh, I wish to be him!
but I’ll be content for now
with image capture
with my pocket camera
comfortable and convenient
conducive in these circumstances
