Fun, Fun, Who's Having Fun?
Life in the later years.
Brothers, I now have four again
what luck and it feels like heaven!
Brother One lives in Texas
he gives out a bit of sass.
A few can take offense
he doesn't get it as it makes no sense
it is teasing or joking
he is not making fun or poking
So many are so serious
He believes he is humorous
*
The next brother is retired
riding his bike and tired
of friends that aren't really friends
it may mean a move, as the friendship ends.
I tell him sometimes that is what happens with drinking buddies
that is what they are until you stop drinking as it muddies
the water in that friendship
some find new friends on the recovery ship
sometimes it is church fellowship
or the cultural ways
for some and anyways
Do not do anything stupid today
this day will pass and each day
will get better a day at a time
this may be a long rhyme.
*
Brother Three says he is working
on his wheels to get to work it is getting
to him as it is not going
smoothly yet.
I will bet
it goes better once he cools down, yup.
Once he turns his frown right side up.
He wants to sell wild rice to his brother one
and no sign of him as he may be done
spending for this trip.
It is expensive to come from Houston mostly
gas and food each year, it is costly.
This year add the expense of a hotel
and bringing a daughter as well.

My newest brother is busy going here
and there.
He is on the road much of the summer
He likes keeping busy and it is not a bummer
for him. He is stuck teaching most of the year,
and summer is the time for some flexibility where
he can visit friends and family all over the U.S. and
Canada. He is a storyteller and enjoys the culture and band.
It is nice to have another brother!
And to be his other mother!

I Am Having Fun!
It Was Fun To Have A Fun Day In The Sun!
To Celebrate Another Brother And Son!
I saw children, grandchildren and more than one little One!
*
Our celebration was well attended and Fun!
The weather was perfect and you couldn't beat the Sun!
My brothers were all there and even a Son!
Everyone enjoying the day, even our little one!
I am an American Indian, living in Minnesota. I had four brothers and one sister. My sister and youngest brother died. We culturally adopted a brother last weekend. We feel good about that. Spending time and speaking with my brothers brought up the rhyme above.
My newest brother lost his mother most recently and two brothers and a sister all within a few short years before his mother, leaving him with no immediate family. He does have a daughter and grandson living close.
The spiritual advisor that did our ceremony said I can stand in for his mother as her death has been so recent, making me his other mother. Confusing for many.
