Frosty Fairies

Memories of a Six year old

Gramma woke me with a hug and warm rag to my sleepy eyes

She said, "Oh, Emma when you wake, I do so have a surprise!"

"What is it?" I begged and dressed in thick socks that Gramma had laid out,

Pushing on my goulashes, a bright pink, wishing for clues, no doubt...

"It's something for your eyes, dear child...a sight to behold."

"It's very special and comes only to sweet children, I'm told!

"I can't wait," I told Gramma and then took her hand in mine.

We scurried to the front door and her smile...it did shine.

"Close your eyes shut and open when told,"

And Gramma opened the door to a world that was cold!

"Okay, you may look now" she said...(Gramma was so nice)

The lawn was covered with a blanket of white sparkly ice

It looked just like diamonds, all magical and bright.

I was mesmerized by the glitter and gleam of the sight.

Gramma then told me the tiny, special creatures worked all night

They were called the Frosty Fairies and were both shy and polite.

"Because they were so well-mannered," Gramma went on...

"Their beauty became magic with the appearance of dawn."

My cheeks, were they rosy from the nip of the chill,

but my heart was beating from such a wondrous thrill!

The fairies had visited and left me their snowy glisten

And all I could do is for their wings...I did listen.

Gramma told me they had most likely worn themselves out,

They were probably sleeping and not moving about.

Afterwards, we warmed up with hot cocoa and toast,

I felt pretty special indeed, but would never boast.

To get a visit by the Frosty Fairies...

Is something that (even today,) my heart carries!

My eyes were tearing up with memories of my Grandmother. Your visuals are so beautiful. This should be a child’s book….honestly do yourself a favour and do that. I will purchase one
