Frosted Slumber
For the Frosted Verse Challenge

A crisp chill creeps forth in winter’s frosty first
Stealing in like a thief one early December dawn
Falling on two lovers sleeping thus entwined.
In the icy veil of morning's dew, two chilled pawns
Find warmth in the other’s slumbering arms,
Much like innocence found in a newborn fawn.
*
Unaware and coiled, they sleep as lovers always do
Dreaming desires spun of adoration and frost’s dew.
Within a fine web of light, two souls shine as one
Much like residual effects of wind and rain anew,
Or the spinning sun and earth’s revolving dances
To leave love blooming like flowers they did strew.
*
Lovers blended thus in dreams on a frosty, chilly day
Speak of trust, a single voice of unity seeking to invade
Youth’s light of love, immortalized in depths of nature,
A frozen flower lingering in the ice of winter’s shade;
Shining silently amidst the dawn of new day’s birth,
The full price of love and fate’s joining is well weighed.
