Wispy clouds like blue-spun

cotton candy at the Fair

***

The place where we first met

And you took

me behind the

circus tent

***

To squeeze my virgin breasts

Hard nipples

nakedly

exposed in the

hot sun

***

You were a

raven-haired devil

then, who made

me feel free

***

And so I ran

from what I’d known

from rules and

loneliness

***

To you

for safety

for love

And I finally lived

***

Until you

Broke me --

One

controlling

moment

at a time

***

Smashing my

soul

like a

paper piñata

***

You can’t hurt

me anymore

***

I

won’t

let

you

***

I am strong

now

on this red

dirt road

***

Alone.
