Freedom of Expression

Expressing or Oppressing?

Waves of rationality and sanity overtake my aspirations to be Free

Willing to swim past the known edges but

The Great Wall of reality fills my vision.

I can’t see past the brittle bricks held together by fallacies.

Bricks of mortar and conniving mortals dousing fires and stepping on budding seeds

-

They won’t allow us to breathe

they won’t allow us to seek or look around for new beats unless it matches their drums.

Constant rhythmic patterns of old.

Every step and every move locked to the track, lest we derail from the created path with loose feet.

It’s just an Imitation Game, following set moulds to attain false immortality

for fear of irrelevance.

-

The Dark Knights of modern ideologies wander the surface with pitches and forks

Rallying against the oppressive current

Powering against the flow of sameness

Staring at the bleak greyness of options no different than the last

-

Does new mean better,

or is it simply the old made clever?

Is life just a cyclical endeavour?

Am I a trailblazer or the oppressor?

Will my ideals be toppled by a zephyr?

Questions roaming forever

Subjective ideals aren’t meant to pressure the masses, I know

but what if it is the truth?

What if it is undeniable and resolute?

Do I have a duty to reveal and execute my will upon others?

I don’t know...

----

Author's Note: I thought it was an interesting topic to think about so I tried to get into the mind of both sides of the spectrum and created this little poem. I sprinkled a few random things in the first three stanzas because I was bored (kind of fitting of the topic of the poem).

Stream of Consciousnesssocial commentary

Does new mean better / old made clever.. I smiled widely at this. It’s very often the truth, isn’t it? So many gems in this one, another really enjoyable read 🙏🏻🤍
