Dilemmas of Storytelling
Some stream of consciousness(?) of how I feel sometimes when I'm writing a story
Swinging round and around in my mind, nothing left, but some tired old rhymes.
I contin-you impressed with the lee-rical jest
it’s a game, not a theft
let it all be a rest
and go play like it’s putty
let’em all call you nutty
take a letter from the end, comeback later to attend
to the mess you created
let it all be related
and just claim it was intention
all the roads lead to perfection
of a finished poem or a story
celebrating in it’s glory
--
And then read it later on
--
Thinking about it now, why did I put that word in. Why did I let that bastard in? It doesn’t go well with chapter 10 when I said this, that, and then
he just jumped off the roof? Where did that skill come in? Did I introduce it somewhere, or was this plot armouring?
And what the hell is that? The other one jumped over too? An edit is way overdue
Did I say she’s crying over who?
it's important to move the plot forward, and give the reader some exposure to
emotional elements like sadness and love that budded and grew
over time when characters were pursued.
Like Bonnie and Clyde.
--
To the scrap pile this goes, unless I pull magic out my...
I’m sitting at an impasse
Should I throw this in the trash?
It needs an edit masterclass
to save the story from becoming
another tree turned into ash.

The flow from carefree experimentation to the harsh self-critique makes this feel like a true snapshot of the creative process. And the twist at the end? Classic! Feels like a writer’s tug-of-war between brilliance and the "what was I thinking?" moments.
Omgggg, this was so relatable! Loved it!
great one man, feel this right now as I'm hammering away
