Freedom

A poem true to today's societal standards

By Matthew CollettPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Sunrise from my front door.

Please oh please

come with me

I'll tell you all the ways

I'll teach you all the things to know

And which Gods you should praise

I addict you to a dollar bill

Tell you what to eat

Open your eyes in the morning sun

And tell you when to sleep

I'll program you

I'll deny the Truth

I'll try to keep you weak

I'll even tell you what to say

I taught you how to speak.

I'll take from you All that's free

I'll tell you what you need

I'll build up walls so damn tall

And preach of liberty

I'll have to ask after class

Oh give your time to me

Cause in "My" world

I prefer work over family

I lie to you

And tell you things

To keep you entertained

And when I piss down your back

Convince you it's just rain.

It's not natural human conditioning

It's power and control

No man has the right to say

What makes another whole

Come with me

I kill with greed

And take all that's not just mine

But I never taught to see

So you just stand there blind.

I am freedom

let me show you

As I take your life away

And if you want what you must have

For it you will pay
