Phanes pressed his thumb to my brow

Bringing to life my universe

This self-concept, roughly shaped

through compression and expansion

Self-analysis awakened

By literature’s hammer

Drubbing the insensate crust

Of stagnant minds

Human geodes

Disguise crystalline truths

Cracked open; inspected

Through defamiliarization

We write to figure out

Who we are

What elements embed themselves

Upon the substrate

Of cognition’s cavern

Glittering stalagmites

Intrepid deposits of steady minerals

Fiction, poetry, criticism

Their rhythmic dripping

Of knowledge and inspiration

Erect stone obelisks

A computer can make anything we dictate

But it cannot WANT to create

Yet worlds are invoked

Through the flow of a simple stylus

Each heterocosmos formed with care

To be self-contradictory as a writer

Is an exploration; to question is

To carve each character

With a facet of consciousness

A signet engraved; unique stamp

Of the human condition

Diamonds are encased

within transient truths

A single kairos introspection

Made precious in our eyes; over time

Axioms are exquisitely assembled

By masters of their craft

Fashioning Aionic Crown Jewels

That will withstand eternity

Dwarfing mountains

With their magnitude

And majesty

Whoa, this is so philosophical! That line "A computer can make anything we dictate / But it cannot WANT to create"—pure gold. It’s like the soul of writing itself nodded in approval.💖

  • "A computer can make anything we dictate But it cannot WANT to create" I especially loved those lines. It's so true!

Marie, this is absolutely stunning. I’m blown away by the language, the layering of metaphor, and the sheer force of introspection in your lines. You took the idea of creation—the writer as both explorer and excavator—and turned it into something mythic and visceral. “Human geodes”, “cognition’s cavern”, “Aionic Crown Jewels”—these images are going to sit with me for a long time. I’m honored my words helped spark this. Truly, you’ve reminded me why we write in the first place.

Your writing is so, so incredible. Like Tim said, absolutely cosmic, every time. ♥️♥️

This feels like poetry forged under cosmic pressure.

Well-wrought! A callback to that old Hermetic doctrine (which is most likely much, much older) that all things contain their opposite.
