Forgiveness

The rarest thing to give and receive.

It’s something so simple,

Or so we might think.

That we may pray to all deities for,

Or even visit a shrink.

We can cross the seven seas,

Or fly ourselves to the moon.

Fake our death,

Cause a scene,

Lament our regrets through a tune.

Why is forgiveness so hard to foster?

Why does our conscience beseech us to care?

If we don't receive it,

Our soul will still grieve it and we’ll move on with belief that it’s fair.

And though sometimes by some favour,

We do get some closure

And we receive it with a clear open heart.

It still doesn't feel freeing,

To receive a forgiving,

If we cant forgive ourselves for our destructively played part.
