You taught me the meaning of forever
Forever is the sun scalding my skin
Leaving painful marks
Wincing at the prospect of even the slightest touch
But still allowing it
Forever are the words that bubble in my throat
Waiting for the right moment to pounce
Edging slowly towards my lips
Burning holes in my esophagus
Acidic
Spiteful
Conniving
Forever is my head on the pavement,
Grass tickling my ear
Listening to the steady beat of the earth
As you trample your way through my contorted heart
Forever are your eyes
Scanning me
Watching me
Clawing at my skin
Peeling
Carving
Shifting
Forever are those three words
That tug at your lips so easily
But sow mine shut
Holding me for ransom
Forever is something you hold onto loosely
But never grasp tightly
The sharp cracks that echo like an endless cathedral
from your bloody knuckles
Dripping
Pouring
Leaking
Crimson from my torn lips
Forever is a world where you have a choice
But never showing mercy
Me begging for an end
And you pressing play
Forever is the game you play
The pawns you move
The pieces you steal
Just to keep your victims quiet
Scratching
Pulling
Tugging
Until their skin is raw.
You taught me the meaning of forever.
It’s vicious
