For Your Mind Too, Could so Quickly Go

Agoraphobia

By Hannah BullockPublished 8 years ago 2 min read

If they could see behind

the circus smile that she fakes

They may just see

Her heart as it breaks

The broken pieces of life

that she tries to amend

Fall at the seams

before she then tries again

The more that it breaks

makes it harder to fix

And the closer giving up

comes in to the mix

But the sharp glass droplets

she hides when she cries

You should see cut deep

through her blood-shot eyes

These tears that fall clear

now pour down like rain

In a winter's storm

With no summer again

And though the sun still shines bright

her pale face is so cold

And the warmth that she has

will rarely be told

She too can believe

Her light is fading away

Said too many times

Will make you believe what they say

Those morals she had

Seem deluded for sure

Since they say she is annoying,

Attention seeking and a chore

She will reach out for help

But then feels in a way

That she is worthless and difficult

Every single day

And these things are said

In frustration turned to hate

Because they will never understand

her mental health state

Though she tries to explain

It does not go down well

As she talks far too much

since there’s too much to tell

She was a knight and a queen

Who was always so strong

She would defend her castle

Alone for so long

She took her walls down

And took a bruised beat

On her knees now she lays

As she whimpers defeat

Her lonely life didn’t seem

Like a fight she should take

Since the crowd all cheer

For her to burn at the stake

Although she had thought

She was always so kind

They said she was fearsome

Which helped changed her mind

Heavy lies the head

that wears the crown

So she gave up her reign

To be a class clown

Being feared was power

But joy was worth more

From seeing the big smiles

On those she’d adore

They never could point out

These things that she had done

But her attitude was poor

Her face a slapped bum

It was clear years on

That they still felt the same

And she now didn’t know

Who else she could blame

She is currently in the cell

In the prison in her head

But also the closed room

With just food and her bed

Leaving her cell

Caused unexplainable fear

And changing herself

Felt like a spotlighted dear

The lights were on

But no one was home

She would rather escape

To that that’s unknown

The numbness she feels

Through pain overload

Leaves her looking cruel

Ice queen, frost cold

It seems all she touches

Is turning to ice

And then melts away

At the throw of a dice

Now luck never seems

To head on her way

So her hopes and her dreams

Appear to decay

She has lost her sword

And her will to fight

Now she waits on her prince

To save her one night

Always reach out

For those who have pain

And listen to them

Even if they’re not sane

For being mad

Is one you may never know

For your mind too

Could so quickly go
