Flood

Flash Flood

By Creative SoulPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

My new apartment

Had floor to ceiling windows

A great view of the city

A park nearby rich in history

A dock made to enjoy boat rides

It couldn’t be more perfect

So much so my cousins decided to visit

But nobody warned us about them tides

One night the sky drew dark

The waves became busy

Instead of backing away from the window

I chose to stare into the mystery

My eyes opened wider

As I saw Mother Nature cry

The wind was so powerful

And I began to smile

Witnessing first hand

As if it was a movie

I didn’t realize how the waters were high

I heard my cousins scream

Come save us

But it was a little too late

As the monster had snatched their souls

Quicker than feeling the effects of the earthquake

This got to be a nightmare

Ain’t no way

We’re suffering through two natural disasters

At the same exact time

The water came crashing into the window

Shattered glass everywhere

The only thing I could remember

Is not being able to swim

As I tried my best to get across the living room

I saw the ceiling caving in

And more water came rushing in

As the emergency flash flood warning

Sounds could be heard everywhere

I closed my eyes

And tried to breathe

Then I woke up

To my toilet bowl overflowing!
