First Kiss

a poem

By Sara LittlePublished about a year ago 1 min read

the night we kiss

prickles with heat

sultry silence

filling the close distance

between our lips -

with measured breaths

of shy reverence

i whisper her name

the sound dripping off my tongue

smoky succulent slowness

sweet caramel -

a cry

a craving

give me more!

so she generously obliges -

Her face mere inches from my own

reflects the moon like quicksilver

the universe pauses mid-stride

to watch for the moment our lips collide

in a rush of hands tangled in hair

knitting our souls

one with the other

i gasp at the event horizon

that signals the beginning of everything

as the world explodes in a meteor shower of stars
