Fate

a poem about our rights

By Mason PinesPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

so much love

so much hate

shards of hope

found way too late

longing to be free

behind a locked gate

no one there

to appreciate

you help them breathe

as you suffocate

do what they say

even as they violate

you grin and bear it

as they invalidate

they penetrate

you dissociate

d i s s i p a t e

who are they to dictate

you retaliate

they tolerate

e l i m i n a t e

but say “liberate”

they sedate

you say

these rights are innate

how dare you call this
