Familiar Stranger

Unknown but still known

By Cherry Published about a year ago 1 min read

I encountered a familiar stranger today.

He resembled the person I remember in my memory,

Yet his gaze was foreign and distant.

No, he is not the one I've searched for in throngs.

Once, there was warmth, and affection for me.

Now, his eyes carry only a hint of irritation.

Did he truly change, or was it I all along, lost in my own fancies?

Oh, how I long to turn back time, to witness those streets

Where others walked hand-in-hand, sharing tender moments.

I wish you and I could have been part of such a scene.

My heart aches, yearning to simply shatter.

My eyes grow numb with the pain of it all.

I wish you would look back, I wish you would stay.
