Falling Asleep And Waking Up

a poem

I am adorning myself with many layers of patience,

Each additional one is thicker than the one before.

They dance together in perfect harmony,

Like conjoined twins, with one playfully teasing the other.

Never coming to an agreement,

Causing superfluous violence and a troubled history,

A mismatched combination, with withered flowers in a cracked vase,

A hidden pathway through the perplexing maze,

Guiding me towards healing and restoration.

After someone dropped a bombshell on my house,

During the most unpredictable times,

Everything got ruined all at once.

And under the bed, I discovered all the pieces that were missing.

It was there that my heart became entwined with the yarn,

They had taken it from the screams of the night,

All in service of the Queen.

She is no longer present,

Gone are the days of glamour and wealth.

Vanished, overtaken by a dull shade of grey,

These mysterious properties,

As the seasons shift and transform.

Life has veered onto an unfamiliar path,

Where only departed souls reside,

Unworthy of the impending fate that awaits them,

Or perhaps they simply choose ignorance,

Engrossed in their customary pursuits from afar.

Concentrating on tasks demanding their utmost attention,

Calculating their worth and actions

Unbeknownst to me for countless centuries,

As long as my soul endures,

Taken aback by it all,

A dearth of freedom to harmonise and find security in it.
