The First Day After Doomsday

a poem

On the first day,

They were all hushed and cautious,

Constructing a fresh realm from the ruins,

Left behind by past transgressions,

Rationalised by their own timidity,

Paralysed by inability to decide,

Across the divide.

I found solace in creating a new vision,

A vision of a life worth living,

Even though all the forces seemed to conspire against me.

Amidst a whirlwind of anxiety,

Feeling crippled and exhausted,

Courage and confidence are fading,

Lost in the depths of oblivion.

Has luck abandoned me or never existed?

Who will remember in a year's time?

Battered and bruised, my nerves

Refuse to carry on once more

“Align your body and soul

For the lurking challenges ahead

Shift the fortune

From good to bad and back!”

I suppose that's how

Reversal operates

Behind my back

Damn!

~~~
