Fallen Star

A broken heart

Fallen Star

I walked out to the dock

The moon, elegantly bright

It shone across calm waters

And out into the night

Looking up to the darkness

A single star fell from the sky

It landed at my feet

Then you looked me in the eye

Your light was all ablaze

Your voice a lullaby

We fell in love instantly

We didn't have to try

Shining, guiding the way

I was enamored from the start

A double-dealing charlatan

Were you stealing my own heart?

You always played with fire

Reckless with my soul

Your heart it burned within me

And left a gaping hole

I should have seen it then

But how could I have known?

You walked away from me

Our love you had outgrown

You took my heart with you

As I crumbled to the floor

And if he breaks yours too

Don’t come knocking at my door

heartbreak
